Here are the EPM updates for June 2024. Updates will hit test environments June 7th and prod environments June 21st. Here’s what caught my eye.
60-Day Retention of Backups from OCI (Gen2) Test Environments
Daily backups will be retained for 60 days. This has been available to Prod environments for a while. This is good functionality being extended to Test environments.
New Application Role: Access Control – Manage
This new role will give a user the ability to manage groups and assign application roles. It will benefit segregation of duties so a user can be responsible for access control and not need to be a service administrator.
Option to Use Existing Users with the SIMULATECONCURRENTUSAGE Command
Previously, this using this command created temporary users to simulate activity and then deleted the temporary users. Now it will give the option to use existing users. What is unclear to me until I can test it is if the user executing the command still needs to be an identity domain administrator.
Updated EPM Books Extension for Smart View
An update to the EPM Books extension is available. I recommend updating Smart View extensions whenever they come out.
New Application Setting to Enable Upcoming Support for Smart View for Google Sheets
As mentioned in last month’s update, Smart View for Google Sheets is coming. This new application setting is preparing for that release. When it becomes available, users will be able to work on forms and ad hoc grids in Google Sheets.
Forms 2.0 is the Default for New and Recreated Applications
Forms 2.0 will be the default starting in June 2024. I have been using Forms 2.0 for several months and find it an overall good upgrade to forms.
Ability to Add a Custom Logo for Redwood Experience Themes
The Redwood Experience themes (Oracle, Custom Dark, and Custom Light) can now be updated with a custom logo. To be honest, I thought this was already available. I will have to check after the update what the difference is.
As usual, there are lots of other updates in the June release that may be of more interest to you. I encourage you to read the full document and be prepared when environments are updated.
As always, happy EPM’ng!
