EPM November 2024 Updates

EPM updates for November 2024 are here. Not much is happening in this update, but here are the few things that caught my attention. Updates will go to test environments November 1st and prod environments November 15th.

Display Design-Time Formatting in Forms 2.0

Forms in Smart View will have additional formatting options available to users to further refine how the form displays. Form designers will need to add formatting rules to the forms, and as the title indicates, this is only applicable to Forms 2.0. You will also need Smart View 24.200 or later.

Updated EPM Books Extension

An updated Smart View extension for EPM Books that along with general improvements will also include support for runtime prompts in Books.

Respond to Prompts While Running Books

Users can now respond to prompts when running Books. Previously, reports with prompts within the book needed to have the prompt selection defined in design, users were not able to update the selection.

Ability to Use the Job Console in Narrative Reporting

This is long overdue in my opinion. The NR Job Console will provide the ability to schedule bursting definitions. As with jobs in the Planning Job Console, the jobs can be run immediately or scheduled for a later time. Previously, scheduling bursting in NR was only available by using EPM Automate.

Calculation Reports Enhanced to Show the Top 10 Longest Running Rules – EPCM

In Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management, the calculation reports now display information about the top 10 longest running rules. This is useful information to help developers troubleshoot issues and make performance improvements.

Calculation Job Details Available on the Calculation Analysis Page – EPCM

The calculation analysis page will now include more information about the calculation, including job parameters, errors, and warnings. Previously, this information was in the Jobs Console.

Normally, this is where I would say there are other updates in the November release that may be of more interest to you. That’s still true, just be aware that it was a pretty light update this month, so there is not much more than what I highlighted. Check out the full document and be prepared when environments are updated.

Also, as I mentioned last month, Oracle changed the layout of the document page. I’m still trying to keep an open mind about the page layout changes, but at this time I still do not like it.

As always, happy EPM’ng!
