EPM June 2025 Updates

June 2025 Oracle EPM updates are coming, which also means the year is about half over already. There are a few Platform updates I found interesting, plus some good ones in Planning for those of you into Predictive Cash Forecasting. And if you’re into EDM, there are lot of updates, but I’ll let others cover those details. Updates will go to test environments June 6th and prod environments June 20th. Here’s my summary.

Use Groovy to Create an Excel Workbook

You can create an Excel workbook with Groovy and send it to the Inbox/Outbox. After discussing this with some colleagues for use cases, one we came up with is to create a spreadsheet with a specific data set for distribution.

Use Groovy to Create a ZIP File

Using Groovy, you can create a ZIP file and send it to the Inbox/Outbox. This one seems more useful to me. One example would be to create a data export, which can get exceptionally large, and ZIP it so it can be distributed.

Security Settings Supported in Data Integration

Data Integration now has the ability to enable and disable location security. Previously, this had to be done in Data Management. This is the latest step forward to getting full parity between Data Integration and Data Management.

Updated EPM Books Extension for Smart View

There is an updated Smart View extension for EPM Books. As always, I recommend updating Smart View extensions when they are available.

Enhancements to Active Connections in Smart View for Google Workspace

Smart View for Google Workspace continues to improve. This update will let you switch connections between different environments using the Set Active Connections feature.

Reports Now the Primary Reporting Solution for Cloud EPM

It’s finally upon us, Financial Reporting is dead. I feel like Oracle has been telling us FR was going away for many, many years. Reports is the standard reporting tool for Cloud EPM, if you have not converted over yet, I suggest you do so immediately.

New Grid-Level Property for the Use Database Suppression Option

Reports now has the functionality to suppress rows at the Essbase level. This will reduce the amount of data on the business process side and eliminate the impact on query thresholds. This option had only been available in forms, so bringing it into reports is a good improvement.

New Menu Options for Dashboard 2.0 Grids

Another improvement to Dashboard 2.0. Three new menu options will be available: Analyze, Open in Smart View, and Spreadsheet Export. Previously, these options were only available within the form.

New Standardized Artifact Page Option: Hide Empty Folders

On the standardized artifact pages for Dashboards, Documents, and Data, empty folders can be hidden. This will make it easier to view those pages.

Updated Narrative Reporting Extension for Smart View

An updated Smart View extension for NR will be available. I recommend updating extensions when they become available to be able to take advantage of new features and bug fixes.

Predictive Cash Forecasting Enhancements

The Planning updates this month are all related to Predictive Cash Forecasting, and I so wish they had come out sooner. I’m currently in the middle of an implementation of PCF, each of these updates would have helped with our development. I guess better late than never. 😊

  • Predictive Cash Forecasting Now Supports Cash Buffer and Cash Over Buffer Line Items
    • Line Items for Cash Buffer and Cash Over Buffer are now standard members in the dimension. The Process Forecast rule will use the data input on these members to provide a more detailed cash flow analysis.
  • Predictive Cash Forecasting View By Forecast Method Supports What-if Analysis and Line Item Adjustments
    • View by Forecast Method has been converted to a dashboard and is enhanced so you can perform what-if analysis and make adjustments to line items.
  • Key Predictive Cash Forecasting Forms Converted to Dashboards
    • This is a really good improvement. Until this update, the driver assumptions and pay terms forms were separate. Combining into dashboards improves the user experience. We had created our own dashboards to do this, could have definitely saved some time had this come out sooner.
  • Predictive Cash Forecasting Rules Updated to Support Customized Form and Dashboard Layouts
    • Lastly for PCF is updating rules so that when dimensions are moved between the POV, Page, and Rows/Columns of forms, the rules will still work.

IMPORTANT Actions and Considerations

There are several items to highlight from the Important Actions and Considerations section.

  • Plan to Replace the Slash Symbol (/) in Folder Names with a Space Character
    • Starting with the September 2025 (25.09) update, if a folder name contains the slash symbol (/), it will be replaced with a space character. This is to ensure that the daily backup is created without issues. Currently, if a folder name contains a slash symbol (/), all the artifacts in that folder are not backed up, failing the daily backup.
  • Future Direction for Forms and Dashboard 1.0
    • The de-support date for Forms 1.0 and Dashboard 1.0 has been shifted from June 2025 (25.06) to October 2025 (25.10). Effective October 2025, all environments will default to the 2.0 setting for Forms and Dashboards with existing environments having the option to switch back to 1.0 with no support for 1.0. All new environments deployed effective October (25.10) will be deployed with Forms 2.0 and Dashboards 2.0 only; the option to switch to Forms 1.0 will no longer be available.

There are other updates that may be of interest to you, check out the full document and be prepared when environments are updated.

As always, happy EPM’ng!
