Just in time for Christmas in July parties, the July 2025 Oracle EPM updates are here. It’s a relatively light update, nothing for Planning and only a few Platform items that caught my eye. Updates will go to test environments July 4th and prod environments July 18th. Here’s my summary.
Integration of Cloud EPM with Oracle Access Governance
Here’s an improvement in how we can manage user access across multiple environments. Per Oracle, “Oracle Fusion Cloud EPM now supports API-based seamless integration with Oracle Access Governance to streamline identity orchestration and automate the onboarding process for accounts and groups while also ensuring the efficient provisioning and reconciliation of user accounts. Oracle Access Governance supports account management, role management, and group management for Oracle Cloud EPM accounts as a Managed System.” This will improve security, compliance, and efficiency with a centralized view of access rights.
New Application Role – Data Integration – Administrator
This is a good enhancement. It can be assigned to any user giving them more control over integrations and not having to rely on service administrators. They will be able to create and manage integrations, execute pipelines, and do data/metadata extraction and transformation using EPM Integration Agent.
New REST APIs for Managing Users and Groups
Several new REST APIs for managing users and groups; List Users, List Groups, and User Login Report. This can be helpful to retrieve lists of users and groups, and login information for reporting and compliance.
New testName Parameter for SimulateConcurrentUsage EPM Automate Command and REST API
A while back I wrote about the SimulateConcurrentUsage command. This looks like a useful enhancement. It will let us specify a name to use in the testing thereby helping to manage results of different runs of the test.
Support for User Variable Mapping for Existing Users for SimulateConcurrentUsage Command and REST API
Another useful enhancement to the SimulateConcurrentUsage command, this will let us set user variables for existing users being utilized in running the test.
Support for Commenting out Lines for SimulateConcurrentUsage Command and REST API
And yet another useful enhancement to SimulateConcurrentUsage command. Instead of making multiple copies of the requirements file that specifies use cases, you can now use one master file and comment out unneeded lines as you work through your testing tasks.
Updated EPM Books Extension for Smart View
There is an updated Smart View extension for EPM Books. As always, I recommend updating Smart View extensions when they are available.
Smart Split
Who has hit Essbase governor limits trying to import large volumes of data? Well, no more. Smart Split in Data Integration allows you to split a data load into multiple smaller loads by letting you define smaller slices of data without creating multiple integrations.
Support for IPM Insights in FCC
I don’t normally highlight updates to FCC, but this is a good one. FCC will now have IPM Insights. I’ll have to get with my friends in consolidations to play around with this.
IMPORTANT Actions and Considerations
There are several items to highlight from the Important Actions and Considerations section.
- Groovy Engine Update
- A future version of the Groovy engine, which is planned for the second half of 2025, has stricter validation rules that may cause previously valid rules to fail validation. A program to aid in finding the rules that need to be adjusted will be provided in the August 2025 update. See Resolving Groovy Business Rules Validation Issues for more information.
- Upcoming Changes to the Permission Required to Create Forms, Dashboards, and Library Folders
- I may have included this previously, but it’s important to say it again. In a future update, Oracle plans to change the permissions required to create forms, dashboards, and sub folders. With this change, users assigned to the Power User predefined role will require write access to the folder in which they create forms, dashboards, or sub folders.
- Future Direction for Forms and Dashboard 1.0
- I did include this last month, just like the one above, I think it’s important to say it again. The de-support date for Forms 1.0 and Dashboard 1.0 has been shifted from June 2025 (25.06) to October 2025 (25.10). Effective October 2025, all environments will default to the 2.0 setting for Forms and Dashboards with existing environments having the option to switch back to 1.0 with no support for 1.0. All new environments deployed effective October (25.10) will be deployed with Forms 2.0 and Dashboards 2.0 only; the option to switch to Forms 1.0 will no longer be available.
There are other updates that may be of interest to you, check out the full document and be prepared when environments are updated.
As always, happy EPM’ng!
