EPM May 2024 Updates

I know I’m sounding like a broken record, but this year is going fast.  Here are the EPM updates for May 2024. Updates will hit test environments May 3rd and prod environments May 17th. Here’s what caught my eye.

Simulation of Concurrent Usage

There are three updates to the simulation of concurrent usage functionality.

  • Runtime parameters for the command Save Form
  • Smart View options for Open Form and Ad Hoc Grid use cases
  • User variable member mapping in the REST API

I wrote about this EPM Automate command a few months ago (here and here). I have not had the opportunity to revisit since then and several updates have occurred. I am curious, is anyone actively using this command? Has anyone created a process to execute this testing on a regular basis? I would love to hear about how it is being utilized in the real world.

Loading Oracle ERP Cloud Exchange (Fx) Rates to the Oracle EPM Cloud

Data integration will now be able to extract exchanges rates directly from Oracle ERP Cloud with this adapter. This is a nice addition to data integration, and honestly, I am surprised it has taken this long to get.

Smart View for Office (Mac and Browser)

There are four updates to Smart View in Mac and Browser. They all look good, but the one that caught my eye is displaying member names and aliases in separate columns in ad hoc grids. We got this feature in Excel Smart View a while ago and it is nice to see it coming to Mac and Browser.

BTW, Smart View for Google Workspace is coming. There is a Customer Connect presentation scheduled for May 23rd.

Workforce Now Limits the Number of Editable Rows in Mass Update Forms

Important to be aware of this change if you have large mass updates. The number of rows will be limited, and you will receive an error message if the limit is breached. You will need to reduce the number of rows being edited to get past the limit. Unfortunately, the limit value is not stated.

Forms 2.0 to Become Default for New and Recreated Applications

A reminder from the “Important Actions and Considerations” section, Forms 2.0 will be the default starting in June 2024. Many of the issues that have been reported to Oracle have been addressed.

As usual, there are lots of other updates in the May release that may be of more interest to you. I encourage you to read the full document and be prepared when environments are updated.

As always, happy EPM’ng!
