EPM December 2023 Updates

Time for another monthly EPM update from Oracle. Listed below are the December updates that caught my attention.

Self-Service Concurrent Usage Testing Under Simulated Load

I can’t wait to try this out. A new EPM Automate command called simulateConcurrentUsage is being released. With this command a simulation can be executed for specified operations for a given number of users and iterations. The operations supported are:

  • Open forms
  • Save forms
  • Run business rules
  • Run data rules
  • Open ad hoc grids

Using this command will help to validate the response time of the application under concurrent usage. This will come in handy to test performance in development before implementing changes in production. A companion REST API is also part of the December updates.

Enhanced Support for Task Manager in Smart View

Per the documentation, “Task Manager in Oracle Smart View for Office is enhanced for better usability, quicker access to task details, and better navigation to integrated tasks.” So basically, Task Manager will look better and have additional functionality in Smart View. As with other Smart View extensions, it’s always a good idea to update to the latest extension when released.

New Source and Target Expression Types

In Data Integration, new source and target expression types are available when mapping dimensions. The new types are:

  • Upper: converts a column to uppercase
  • Lower: converts a column to lowercase
  • Concat: combine text from different columns to create a new column

Updated Narrative Reporting Extension for Smart View

General improvements and defect fixes are included in this latest Narrative Reporting extension. As noted above, it’s always a good idea to update to the latest extension when released.

Implement Auditing for Models, Rule Sets, Rules, POVs, and Profit Curves

In Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management (EPCM), auditing is now available for the following:

  • Models
  • Rule Sets
  • Rules
  • POVs
  • Profit Curves

Though I don’t often write about EPCM, I find this functionality interesting. Within Planning, I’ve used the audit information frequently to troubleshoot issues and determine who made what changes. Having similar functionality in EPCM is a good thing.

New Videos for Forms 2.0 and Dashboards 2.0

Each video is under 5 minutes long and is a great overview of the new and improved functionality for Forms 2.0 and Dashboards 2.0.

Of course, there is lots of other information in the release. I’ve only listed the items that were of interest to me, there is likely other information you could find useful. These updates will be released to test environments on December 1st and production environments on December 15th.

As always, happy EPM’ng!
